Margaret Whitman, chief executive of EBay (EBAY), filed with the SEC to sell 600,000 common shares of the online auction company.
Shares of San Jose-based EBay fell $2.63 to $54.81 Friday. The stock is off almost 14% this year.
Whitman listed the value of the shares at $33.4 million in a Form 144 filed with the SEC Thursday. The filing listed the date of sale as Oct. 24. However, executives who file Form 144s aren’t required to actually sell the shares and sometimes decide to hold onto their stock instead.
