Santa Ana Wins 7th Straight Soccer Title

The Santa Ana men’s soccer team clinched its seventh consecutive Orange Empire Conference title Tuesday with an 8-1 victory over visiting Santiago Canyon.
George Galvez scored three goals and Alejandro Licea had two for the Dons (17-0-3, 12-0 in conference), who last lost a conference game in 1994.
With the victory, the Dons extended their unbeaten streak to 69 games.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s games:
Fullerton 2, Riverside 1--Trailing, 1-0, in the second half, the host Hornets (8-7-4, 6-5-1) tied the score on Tony Cuellar’s goal and went ahead for good when Louis Elloie scored at the 62-minute mark. Riverside is 4-12-2, 2-9-1.
Orange Coast 4, Irvine Valley 1--OCC’s Geno Vitale-Sansoti scored twice and Aaron Siemers had a goal and an assist to give the Pirates their fifth win in a row. The Pirates (13-3-4, 9-2-1) earned a second-place conference finish.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Santa Ana 3, Santiago Canyon 0--Tiffany Wilson had a goal in the first half and Ana Velazquez and Claudia Covarrubias had second-half goals for visiting Santa Ana (11-4-5, 7-2-2).
Golden West women forfeit--The Chargers couldn’t field enough players due to injury, giving the victory to Cypress, which clinched the conference championship for the eighth time in the last 10 years.
