Rose Drive Friends Church will ask the Planning Commission tonight for permission to build a clock tower that exceeds the city’s 35-foot limit.
Commissioners are expected to approve a request to increase the tower’s height by 6 1/2 feet to 41 1/2 feet. The church has requested the added height to accommodate cosmetic design changes, said Jim Klein, pastor of support services. The tower will stand east of a planned 33,000-square-foot Christian Education Building that the church hopes to begin constructing soon. The meeting begins at 7:30 in council chambers at City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
