OCC Scores Six in Eighth to Beat Long Beach, 11-10

Orange Coast rallied from a five-run deficit by sending 11 men to the plate and scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out an 11-10 nonconference baseball victory over Long Beach on Thursday in Costa Mesa.

Ryan France’s bases-loaded double--his fourth hit--drove in the tying and winning runs for the Pirates (9-16).

Jason Reuss had two hits and three RBIs and Eric Weithorn had a home run and two RBIs for OCC.

In Orange Empire Conference baseball:

Saddleback 8, Fullerton 7--Gerry Alesia was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th at Saddleback.

Santa Ana 9, Cypress 6--Carlos Pasillas had four hits and Jeff Groeger pitched three scoreless innings to earn a save for host Santa Ana (22-3-1, 11-3).

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Fullerton 4, Riverside 2--Crystal Aguirre’s two-out, two-run double in the fifth inning broke a 2-2 tie for host Fullerton (31-4, 13-1).

Saddleback 5, Golden West 3--Jasmine Nelson’s two-run double in the sixth drove in the tying and winning runs for host Saddleback (15-11-1, 8-6).
