Herrington and Francola Selected to Coach All-Stars

Mike Herrington of Hart High will coach the East and Bob Francola of Kennedy will coach the West in the Valley Youth Conference all-star high school football game at 6:30 p.m. on June 10 at Cal State Northridge.

Graduates from through the region will participate on each squad.

Rosters will be released in two weeks.

Tickets are $7 for adults and will be available at the gate, which opens at 4 p.m.

The Valley Youth Conference will host a youth all-star football game for midget division players, 13- and 14-year-olds, at 4:30 p.m. on June 10.

Proceeds go to the Valley Youth Conference, which sponsors football, cheerleading, track, basketball and volleyball for boys and girls 6-14.

BASKETBALL

* The Battle of the Valley 2000 all-star game for boys and girls will be April 7 at Cal State Northridge.

The girls’ game will be at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ game will be at 7:30 p.m.

The game, sponsored by the Valley Sports Foundation, pits teams comprised of players from the City Section against those from the Southern Section.

Tickets will be $8 for stadium seating and $6 for general admission.

* Senior Michael Perez of St. Bonaventure High was selected to the All-Southern Section Division IV-A boys’ basketball team.
