Peter Rutenberg will host Listen Up! a free choral music listening club, Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 100 S. Brand Blvd., Glendale. The group is designed for people of all musical backgrounds whether they’re new to choral music or longtime enthusiasts.
Sponsored by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, each meeting of Listen Up! focuses on an aspect of the music to be featured in a subsequent Master Chorale concert. Wednesday’s meeting will highlight the ensemble’s April 14 “Made in L.A.†concert at the Music Center and will spotlight Los Angeles-based composers.
Rutenberg, the producer of National Public Radio’s choral music program “The First Art,†is the former program director at KUSC-FM and a composer of classical, jazz and contemporary musical works. (818) 241-8099.
Singer-songwriters Jennifer Hardaway and Bernstein (aka Sony recording artist Dan Bern) take the stage tonight at Exile Books and Music, 14925 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks. The 8 p.m. show is sold out, but a second show at 11:30 p.m. has been added. $12 at the door.
Boston-based singer-songwriter Kris Delmhorst kicks off her West Coast tour Saturday night at the store. Singer-songwriter Stefana will open the show. $10 cover.
