Church Pilgrimage to End at Mission
St. Thomas Aquinas Church will host a daylong pilgrimage to Ventura on Saturday, and more than 140 people are expected to take a trek reminiscent of journeys made by Christians during the Middle Ages.
“It is an act of devotion in this Jubilee Year,†said the Rev. Patrick Keane, pastor of the Ojai church.
The event will begin in Ojai and end 14.5 miles later at the San Buenaventura Mission in Ventura. People of all faiths are invited to join the pilgrimage at any point along the way.
The Ojai-to-Ventura walkers will stroll along a bicycle path between the two cities.
The pilgrimage will begin with a Mass at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast and the walk at 8 a.m. from the church, 185 St. Thomas Drive, in Ojai. There will be lunch at Foster Park. The benediction is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the mission, 211 E. Main St., Ventura.
