Costly Fire Doused at Santa Ana Firm
fire broke out Saturday night at a landscaping business in Santa Ana, fire officials said.
The two-alarm blaze, in a building at 1533 E. McFadden Ave., began about 10 p.m. and was put out in about 30 minutes, according to fire Capt. Randy Black.
About 35 firefighters and 12 vehicles responded to the fire, in a light mercantile complex, Black said. The damage was estimated at more than $450,000.
“It was actually a successful fire in that the fire units were able to keep it to the initial unit, with no damage to the other buildings,†Black said.
Nobody was in the business at the time, and investigators kept watch all night to make sure it did not flare up again.
The cause was unknown.
