Monahan, Ramey Lead Kennedy Past No. 6 El Dorado

Matt Monahan and Eric Ramey hit home runs to help visiting Kennedy to a 9-2 victory over No. 6 El Dorado in an Empire League baseball game Wednesday.
Monahan and Ramey each had two hits and drove in two runs for Kennedy (3-3-1, 1-0-1 in league). El Dorado is 5-4, 1-1.
In other Empire League games:
Katella 7, Century 3--Jon Lorenzen had three hits and RBIs for visiting Katella (5-4, 1-1). Darren Sack (3-0) pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts for Katella.
Cypress 11, Loara 4--Brandon Gruber’s grand slam highlighted a seven-run sixth inning for Cypress (7-2, 2-0). It was Gruber’s fourth home run of the season.
In the Freeway League:
No. 10 La Habra 7, Troy 2--Al Estrada had two hits and two RBIs, and Triften Gadberry had three hits including a double and one RBI for the tenth-ranked Highlanders (7-1, 2-0).
Buena Park 5, Sonora 4--Anthony Cabral went two for three with a home run and scored the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning on an error. Earl Parker (1-2) pitched a perfect seventh for the victory.
In the Garden Grove League:
No. 3 La Quinta 11, Garden Grove 1 (5, mercy)--Freshman Ian Kennedy went three for three, with a double and a home run and three RBIs for La Quinta (9-0, 1-0). He is nine for his last nine.
Rancho Alamitos 10, Los Amigos 5--Mo Garcia pitched a complete game and had two doubles and three RBIs for Rancho Alamitos.
Santiago 7, Pacifica 1--Brian Pilkington threw a three-hitter for Santiago (4-5, 1-0).
In the Golden West League:
Ocean View 11, Santa Ana 1 (6, mercy)--Daric Barton had a grand-slam in the third inning to lead host Ocean View (5-4-2, 2-0).
Tustin 10, Saddleback 2--Chris Hanson hit a home run and drove in three runs and Michael Castillo struck out nine in five innings for the visiting Tustin (6-3, 2-0).
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 9, Anaheim 5--Chase Ulicny had three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs for visiting Brea Olinda (4-5, 1-1). Valencia 3, Savanna 2--Sal Mora was two-for-three with an RBI for Valencia (6-2, 2-0).
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 6, Mission Viejo 3--Travis Becktel, Brad Davis and Scott Cheo hit home runs for host Capistrano Valley (6-3, 2-0).
Trabuco Hills 9, Dana Hills 2--Joe Burgett had a single, double and a triple and drove in four runs for Trabuco Hills (6-3, 2-0).
In the Sunset League:
Edison 4, No. 9 Los Alamitos 1--Jeff Gilmore struck out nine and gave up two hits in five innings as the host Chargers (6-2-1, 1-1).
Edison’s Glenn Hedgpeth struck out four of the six batters he faced, including the side in the seventh inning, and added a two-run double in the fifth.
Marina 7, Fountain Valley 6--With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Matt Gorham drew a bases-load walk, scoring Robert Saltarelli for the Vikings (5-3, 2-0).
No. 4 Esperanza 10, Huntington Beach 4--Kent Carpenter had a home run and three RBIs for visiting Esperanza (7-1, 1-1).
