Kennedy Can’t Throw Chatsworth for a Loss

Gregg Wallis scored from second base on an overthrow to first with one out in the seventh inning and Chatsworth High salvaged a 5-5 tie Thursday in a nonleague game that was called after eight innings because of darkness at Chatsworth.

Matt Fisher of Chatsworth (5-1-1 and ranked No. 3 in The Times’ regional poll) hit solo home runs in the first and third innings and has five homers this season.

Adam Geery finished with three hits and three RBIs for Kennedy.

Sylmar 4, Poly 1--Eddie Camacho pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Spartans in a nonleague victory at Sylmar.

Camacho (2-1) gave up one earned run. Larry Anguino had two hits for the Spartans (3-3).

El Camino Real 8, San Fernando 6--Sean McElroy doubled in two runs in the eighth, lifting the Conquistadores (6-1) to a nonleague victory at San Fernando.

Jose Montes had a triple, single and three RBIs for the Tigers (2-5). Montes struck out nine and allowed one earned run in six innings.

Reseda 8, Canoga Park 2--Rene Cornejo’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run first inning for the Regents (2-1) at Reseda.

Cleveland 4, Grant 3--Andrew Strickland had three hits and two RBIs for the Cavaliers (4-3) in a nonleague victory at Grant.

Campbell Hall 7, Buckley 6--Dan Bruckner hit a sixth-inning solo home run, his third of the season, to lift the Vikings (5-1) to a nonleague victory at Campbell Hall.

Sean Jody drove in two runs and Aaron Kerr had two hits for Campbell Hall.

Colin Ward-Henninger hit a home run for Buckley (3-1).
