Record albums ranging from classical and jazz to rock and show tunes will be for sale by the thousands at the Friends of the Library’s “Record and Curiosity Sale” on March 23.
The one-day sale will also feature a large collection of books, some printed as early as the 1860s, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the community room at the library, 18181 Imperial Highway.
About 5,000 record albums, all 33 rpm, will be sold at 25 cents each, except for collectors’ items, which will be priced higher.
About 4,000 of those came from the collection of a late local resident. Thousands of the books were donated by Eastern Star, a local retirement home.
Those large donations prompted the sale, said Dick Bevers, president of the organization.
