Oh Brother, Pierce Beats Ventura in Tennis, 7-2
Farhad Hajimirzaee and Farhsad Hajimirzaee combined for three points and helped Pierce College to a 7-2 Western State Conference men’s tennis victory over Ventura on Thursday at Pierce.
Each brother won a singles match, and they scored a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) doubles victory for the Brahmas (5-2, 5-1).
Lucas Terse of Ventura (5-3, 5-2) beat Allen Dunn at No. 5 singles.
Glendale 5, Santa Barbara 4--Celso Percegano and Boris Adzhamyan clinched the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory in No. 2 doubles at Scholl Canyon Park in Glendale.
Coach Bob Donaghy of Glendale (7-2, 5-1) earned the 200th victory of his career.
SOFTBALL
Valley 20, Pierce 2--Susie Back hit two home runs and had five runs batted in for the Monarchs (2-10, 1-4) in a WSC interdivisional game called after five innings because of the eight-run rule at Pierce.
Moorpark 8, Citrus 0--Naomi Qualls (4-3) pitched a two-hitter in a game halted by the eight-run rule after six innings in a WSC interdivisional game at Moorpark.
Cori Fredette had two hits and two RBIs for Moorpark (7-10, 3-2).
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Moorpark 8, Ventura 1--Tamara Smith and Humaira Mirza each recorded victories in singles and doubles for the Raiders (7-4, 3-0) in a WSC match at Ventura.
