2 Bodies Found a Week After Mountain Crash
ANGELUS OAKS, Calif. — The bodies of a man and his mother were found in the snow-covered San Bernardino Mountains a week after their car tumbled 350 feet off a highway. The man died as he apparently was hiking for help, authorities said Tuesday.
The frozen body of David Dunn, 55, was found by a hiker Monday afternoon, triggering a search that located a wrecked 1989 GMC Suburban on Tuesday.
The body of his mother, Mary Dunn, 78, was inside. She was in a position that indicated the son had moved her after the vehicle plunged off California 38 near Angelus Oaks, 80 miles east of Los Angeles.
“It appeared as if the son tried to comfort his mom,†said Inspector Randy Emon, a supervising San Bernardino County deputy coroner.
The Dunns lived together in Big Bear City, higher up the mountains, and were last seen Feb. 22, Emon said.
