2 Men Hospitalized in Double Shooting
Two men were in stable condition Tuesday after a double shooting in which one of them fired two revolvers in a fit of jealousy at the other, who drew a handgun and shot back, police said.
Paul White, 42, of Sunland, was booked Monday on suspicion of attempted murder, said Det. Corrie Malinka of LAPD’s Foothill Division.
White, the ex-boyfriend of a 22-year-old woman, allegedly kicked in two doors about 11 a.m. Monday in a house in the 14000 block of Jimenez Street before storming into a bedroom where he found his ex-girlfriend with her new boyfriend, Dan Bonefilio, 32, of Lake View Terrace, Malinka said.
White allegedly fired several rounds from one revolver, then another, striking Bonefilio twice, in the leg and abdomen. Bonefilio shot back and hit White five times, Malinka said.
Both men underwent surgery and are recovering in area hospitals, Malinka said. “It’s truly amazing†that no one died, she added. The woman was unharmed.
Bonefilio will not be charged in the shooting, Malinka said. “It was self-defense.â€
Bail for White has been set at $1 million, Malinka said.
