* Kellogg Co., maker of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries and Eggo waffles, agreed to buy closely held Kashi Co., a La Jolla-based maker of whole-grain cereal products, to expand its natural-food product line. Terms weren’t disclosed.

* ConAgra Inc. said fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 12% as the second-largest U.S. food company cut costs and improved sales in its processing business. The Omaha-based seller of Butterball turkeys and Armour meat said profit from operations rose to $219 million, or 46 cents a share, from $196 million, or 41 cents, a year ago. Sales rose 6% to $6.4 billion.
