DANA POINT
The City Council voted 3 to 2 to give owners of signs that don’t comply with its 1991 sign code another year and a half to comply. The council also directed an ad hoc committee to review the code and suggest changes.
The decision gives owners of 68 signs that aren’t presently in compliance an extension to Dec. 31, 2001. But a revised sign code could permit their signs. The council is expected to revise the sign code by the end of next year after it receives the ad hoc committee’s recommendations, said Edward Knight, director of the Community Development Department.
