Bush Pledges to Keep Mayors in the Loop

Republican George W. Bush promised America’s mayors meeting in Seattle that they will have a seat at the decision-making table if he is elected president. He also pledged to address their urban concerns--improving education, making streets safer and increasing homeownership. Speaking by satellite from his parents’ vacation home in Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush offered no new policy initiatives but underlined parts of his platform that would please mayors.
