Public Invited to Discuss New Bridge
Area residents are invited tonight to a meeting organized by Caltrans to discuss the environmental impact of a proposed $100-million replacement of the Ventura Freeway bridge over the Santa Clara River.
Caltrans will unveil its design for a new 12-lane bridge near the Oxnard-Ventura border, said Joe Brazile, a Caltrans public information officer in Los Angeles. The improvement will include an accompanying interchange at Oxnard Boulevard.
The goal of the meeting is to allow the public to take part in the design process and voice concerns, he said.
Meeting organizers will discuss traffic issues, especially during construction, for commuters and frequent highway users. They will also address environmental concerns.
“We want to make sure we’re not adversely affecting the environment there, and we want to make sure we give the public a chance to express its concerns,†Brazile said.
The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Oxnard Library, 251 South A St.
