The Alpha League girls’ basketball race will have a different look to it.
In a move that makes the four-team league more interesting, coaches have agreed to a post-season league tournament Feb. 8-9.
The teams will play a six-game schedule in league play before competing in a two-day tournament to determine the league’s No. 1 entry in the Southern Section playoffs.
“It’ll be interesting to see how it goes,†said Coach Mary Christiansen of L.A. Baptist. “It’s kind of a first-year deal and it’s a way to get in a few more games. We’ll see what happens.â€

Earl Warren, a 6-5 forward from Crenshaw, has been placed at Kilpatrick, a facility for juvenile offenders in Malibu.
Warren, who has been at the school for fewer than two weeks, had 10 points and nine rebounds in his debut last week against Aquinas.
“He’s just learning the system,†said Kilpatrick Coach Alvin Brown. “He’s a real good player. It’ll be exciting for us this year.â€
