De La Hoya Cleared After Investigation
An investigation by Los Angeles police failed to show evidence supporting allegations by a woman that she was sexually assaulted by boxer Oscar De La Hoya and the case has been closed.
“No formal charges were brought to us for filing,†Victoria Pitkin of the District Attorney’s office said Monday.
A statement released by De La Hoya’s office said, “We are pleased this matter has been dropped. It is unfortunate when anyone is the victim of such baseless allegations.â€
The woman, who has remained unidentified, made her allegations last Dec. 27. She claimed that De La Hoya had assaulted her at a party at his house in West Los Angeles.
