Palisades 3, Kennedy 2--Striker Jennifer Bernson scored off a perfectly placed pass from Krystal Bernal to pull the Golden Cougars within a goal with four minutes remaining, but they couldn’t come up with another in a City Championship quarterfinal match at Palisades.
Bernal gave the fifth-seeded Golden Cougars (13-3-2) a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the match when she outran goalie Lauren Carter to a loose ball and slid it into the left corner of the net.
But the Dolphins answered four minutes later on a goal by Emily Seto and took the lead at the 30-minute mark when Monica Arnold scored off an indirect free kick.
Confusion in front of Kennedy’s net allowed Jennifer Baker to slip into the penalty area unmarked and beat goalie Joanna Chavez for a 3-1 Palisades lead.
