El Toro Beats Marina in Overtime

Goalie Amanda Deatherage scored the winning goal from 19 yards out with two seconds left in overtime to give El Toro a 6-5 victory over visiting Marina in a quarterfinal game of the Southern Section Division I girls’ water polo playoffs.
Cara Chlebicki scored two goals for third-seeded Marina (18-9).
El Toro (19-9) plays Irvine on Friday in a semifinal game.
In other Division I games:
Esperanza 7, Capistrano Valley 4--Jessica Conner’s two goals led a balanced Esperanza scoring attack. Amber Stachowski scored two goals for Capistrano Valley, which finished 18-8.
The top-seeded Aztecs (24-4) play Foothill on Friday in the semifinals.
Foothill 10, Long Beach Wilson 7--Freshman Gabbie Domanic scored three of her four goals in the fourth quarter for Foothill (20-7) at Belmont Plaza. Cassie Azevedo scored six goals for fourth-seeded Wilson (21-6).
Brittany Hayes and Jackie Pirro each scored two goals for Foothill.
In Division IV:
Corona del Mar 7, Rosary 6--Freshman Danielle Carlson scored four goals, including the game-winner with four seconds remaining, for host Corona del Mar (19-11), which knocked out third-seeded Rosary (19-10).
Natalie Golda scored four goals for Rosary (19-10).
Corona del Mar advanced to play the El Dorado-Santa Monica winner.
Santa Margarita 12, Laguna Beach 5--Jamie Kroeze scored four goals and Becca Peterson and Erika Figge had three each for top-seeded Santa Margarita (22-6), which advanced to play University in the semifinals.
Teresa and Tina Condini had two goals each for Laguna Beach (19-10).
University 8, Palos Verdes Peninsula 7--Samantha Klau scored the winning goal for University (14-12) with 5:43 left in the fourth period. Marion Gee scored five goals for the Trojans.
