Agoura Cuts Down Charter Oak
Christie Eshelman scored three goals and Robin Dowds recorded her ninth shutout, and Agoura High defeated Charter Oak, 4-0, in a Southern Section Division III first-round playoff game Saturday at Charter Oak.
Raquel Caprarella also scored for Agoura (13-4-2), which played without leading scorers Jennifer Graham and Heather Sims.
Graham and Sims have combined for 18 of Agoura’s 32 goals, but Graham sat out with a leg injury and Sims had a sore back.
DIVISION I
Arroyo Grande 2, Camarillo 1--Michelle Braunschweiger scored but the Scorpions (14-7-2) lost in overtime at Arroyo Grande.
Rio Mesa 1, Santa Monica 0--Brittany Gonzales scored on a header in the eighth minute of overtime for the Spartans (15-6-1) at Rio Mesa.
Claremont 6, Highland 0--The Bulldogs (12-8-2) were outshot, 25-1, and fell behind, 5-0, in the first half of a loss to the Wolfpack at Claremont.
DIVISION II
Buena 10, Pasadena 0--Ashley Garmon and Natalie Sanderson had each scored three goals for the Bulldogs at Buena.
Megan Boys and J.J. Toohey each had one goal and one assist for Buena (28-0), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times.
Quartz Hill 5, Victor Valley 2--Kellie Cox had two goals for the Rebels, who extended their unbeaten streak to 13 in a victory at Quartz Hill.
Westlake 4, Santa Barbara 0--Jenna Ainsworth had two goals and an assist for the host Warriors (17-2-3), who ran their unbeaten streak to seven games.
Sultana 1, Canyon 1--Alejandra Gutierrez scored in the first half but the Cowboys (18-6-2) lost in a shootout, 7-6.
DIVISION IV
Oak Park 7, Azusa 1--Amy Poyer, Sheila Gluzer and Krista Clinton each had two goals for the Eagles at Oak Park (15-7-2).
Chaminade 12, San Gabriel Mission 0--Lauren Nussbaum scored three goals from the 32nd to the 39th minute at Chaminade.
Liz Buhn scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half for Chaminade (19-4-4), which is ranked No. 4 by The Times.
Louisville 2, El Segundo 1--Nicole Farenbaugh scored with 40 seconds left in regulation and Jessica Hyman scored in overtime for the Royals (13-5-7) at El Segundo.
La Reina 1, Santa Ynez 0--Sarah DiJulio scored for the Regents (14-4-1) at La Reina.
DIVISION V
Flintridge Prep 12, St. Anthony 0--Jeanette Finster scored four goals and Jenny Rowland had three goals and two assists for the Rebels at Flintridge Prep.
Cate 2, L.A. Baptist 1--Jonna Dominguez scored but the Knights (9-5-1) lost in two overtimes at L.A. Baptist.
