DEVELOPING THE PROJECT

In an effort to expand the continuing civic debate about the state of public schools in Los Angeles, four months ago, the Opinion section asked six L.A.-based architects each to design a high school. The designated site, a block in Hollywood between Sunset Boulevard, Fountain Avenue, Wilson Place and Van Ness Avenue, is a potential school location of the LAUSD. We set a budget for the imaginary project at $60 million-$70 million and asked that the school accommodate roughly 2,500 students. No other limits were placed on the six architects.
