A public meeting and workshop on a proposed high-speed rail system for California will be held in Irvine on Wednesday.
The $23-billion proposed project would connect major California cities and includes a station in Orange County.
The 10 a.m. meeting at Irvine City Hall will be led by Michael Tennenbaum, chairman of the California High Speed Rail System.
The hearing is part of a statewide series of workshops to gather public input on the proposal. A final business plan for the system is scheduled to be submitted to the Legislature in May.
