Whether by design or coincidence, the references to books in your news columns, humor columns, editorials and even the Sports section have expanded my reading interests. These include “The Alphabet Versus the Goddess,” “The Axemaker’s Gift,” “Uncle John’s Absolutely Absorbing Bathroom Reader” and “The End of History and the Last Man.”
The Los Angeles County Library and the Long Beach City Library have been very helpful in locating them for me. This seems to me to be the greatest return for my tax dollars of any of the government services.
