DEAL OF THE WEEK

Just as hotel-air packages to Europe are lower in spring than summer, so are fares on the Eurostar train through the Channel Tunnel. Starting Tuesday, you can book one-way standard-class fares between London and either Paris or Brussels for $89, compared to the $159 full fare (fully exchangeable and refundable) and $119 “leisure fare” (the term Rail Europe uses for a fare that is nonexchangeable and only 50% refundable). The first-class fare is $149 versus $239 full and $199 “leisure.” The discounts are good for travel through April 15; the tickets are nonexchangeable and nonrefundable. For reservations, see a travel agent or contact Rail Europe, telephone (800) 387- 6782 (often busy), Internet https://www.raileurope.com.

The pocket-size “AT&T; Picture Guide” is printed with hundreds of images to aid travelers who don’t know the language of the country they’re visiting. Travelers can communicate their needs by pointing to symbols for everything from rice to batteries to post offices. The brochure also has AT&T; direct-access numbers for various countries. Order by calling (800) 435-0812 or visiting the AT&T; Worldwide Travelers Internet site at https://www.att.com/traveler (click on “What’s New”). Note: Callers are required to give their phone number, although an AT&T; spokeswoman said it would not be used for marketing purposes. Internet visitors must give both phone and e-mail address. The Internet form automatically checks off a box that states “I would like to be informed of changes to access numbers, site improvements and special deals from AT&T;”; you may click on the box to remove the check.
