A Dessert That’s Perfect for Lovers or Lovers of Chocolate

Guilty Pleasures
It’s almost Valentine’s Day so it would be anti-love not to give in to a craving for chocolate. Right?
“Love by Chocolate” at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point is a work of art to commemorate the holiday.
Hazelnut chocolate mousse with orange creme brulee inside sits atop a brownie, while a white chocolate heart jauntily frames the whole concoction. As a final touch, a free-form heart of orange-passion fruit sauce is painted on the plate.
Like romance, this dessert by pastry chef Patrick Lassaque, will remain on the menu after Feb. 14. As the chef says, “Calories are forgotten when you’re in love.”
* Love by Chocolate--1,500 calories, 80 grams of fat. $9.50 at the Terrace Restaurant, in the Ritz-Carlton, 1 Ritz Carlton Drive, Dana Point, (949) 240-5008.
