Delgadillo Enters City Attorney’s Race
LOS ANGELES — Deputy Mayor Rocky Delgadillo, a Los Angeles-born, Ivy League-educated senior advisor to MayorRhd Riordan, on Thursday announced his candidacy for city attorney.
“I believe the city attorney has the power to impact†many aspects of life in Los Angeles, said Delgadillo, 39, who described himself as “a product of this city’s neighborhoods.â€
Delgadillo, who has long been discussed as a possible candidate for the office, starts out well behind his only announced opponent, City Councilman Mike Feuer. Feuer has actively been campaigning for months and has raised more than $200,000 for the race. The election will be held in April of next year.
Delgadillo has been Riordan’s chief economic development aide since 1997, when the mayor promoted him to that post.
