The Girl Scout Council of Orange County will open a 6,100-square-foot program center Saturday on Casa Loma Avenue. Local volunteers said they have worked to get this facility for more than 20 years.

“It’s hard for troops here to find a place to meet,†said Jackie Self, membership director for the region and a Yorba Linda resident and volunteer for 32 years. “This will not only give them that, but also provide visibility for the Girl Scouts in Yorba Linda.â€

The Girl Scout Council of Orange County serves 26,000 girls, with 2,000 of them in Yorba Linda. This is the council’s seventh center in the county.
