LAGUNA HILLS

Researchers studying the city’s existing trail system found few surprises: hilly open space, numerous paved bikeways and unlinked winding trails. The Parks and Recreation Commission held its first workshop Wednesday to develop an Open Space and Trail Network Master Plan for the community’s extensive but interrupted pedestrian, biking and horse trails. The preliminary plans include the construction of trail heads serving as rest areas with information and maps along the trails. Proposed sites for trail heads include Clarington Park on Clarington Drive, Mendocino Park on Aliso Hills Drive, and Cabot Park on Costeau Street with a main circulation route at the new community center building being constructed on Alicia Parkway.
