Cypress Beats Aliso Niguel in Savanna Final
Cypress rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Aliso Niguel, 43-40, and win the championship of the Savanna tournament.
Aliso Niguel scored only three points in the fourth quarter, all on free throws.
Remy Hitomi had 12 points, three assists and three steals for Cypress (8-5). Tricia Culley was named tournament MVP after averaging 10 points and 13 rebounds in the tournament.
In the third-place game:
Valencia 40, Downey 33--JaNae Ferguson scored 12 points and Aloura Ulmer had 10 rebounds for Valencia (9-7).
In consolation games:
Orange Lutheran 48, Torrance 47--Leanna Holtzclaw’s layup off an inbound play in the final three seconds gave the Lancers the win in the fifth-place game. Ashley Amaral had 14 points and eight rebounds for Orange Lutheran (10-4).
La Habra 48, West Torrance 40--La Habra had a big fourth quarter, scoring 12 of its 18 points on free throws to win the consolation final. Mira Carberry and Ranay Dato each had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Highlanders (11-4).
