No One Way for Bruins to Prepare

Guards Earl Watson and Ray Young have very different routines the night before a big game such as Saturday’s against North Carolina at Pauley Pavilion.
Watson breaks down an opponent’s game tape in exacting detail, even counting the number of dribbles an opposing point guard typically takes before, say, crossing over from right hand to left. Friday, he plans to review tape from last season’s victory at North Carolina, then watch highlights from the Bruins’ championship run in 1995. “I just like seeing how Ed O’Bannon ran that team,” Watson said. “It inspires me.”
Young hopes to get his mind off basketball Friday night, watching a few lighthearted tapes, mostly from old episodes of “Martin” and “Def Comedy Jam.”
“If you think about a game too much,” Young said, “you’ll put too much pressure on yourself.”

An MRI exam of guard Todd Ramasar’s right shoulder revealed a slight cartilage tear. He will suit up for Saturday’s game but will not play.
