8 Officers to Focus on Drunk Drivers
Police will be putting extra officers on the streets Friday and Dec. 29 to stop drunk drivers and put them in jail.
Eight additional officers will be patrolling both nights solely for the purpose of finding intoxicated drivers and locking them up, said traffic Sgt. Art Wiechmann. The department has adopted a “zero-tolerance approach” to anyone testing above the legal limit.
The intent of the program is not to spoil the holidays for anyone, Wiechmann said, but “to try to make sure everyone has a great holiday by keeping intoxicated motorists off the streets, where they can’t hurt themselves or innocent bystanders.”
Police officials said, however, no DUI checkpoints are planned. Information: (714) 738-5313.
