Vanguard Beats Ranked Opponent
Kemmy Burgess had 20 points to lead Vanguard to a 65-58 victory over Lewis-Clark College in a nonconference men’s basketball game Monday night at Vanguard University.
Dennis Keane had 15 points and Ian Boys contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds for Vanguard (3-5).
Lewis-Clark, which is ranked 11th nationally in the NAIA, dropped to 7-5.
In another nonconference game:
Concordia 66, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 63--Brad DeGrenier scored 19 points for visiting Concordia, which held off a late surge by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Chris Pacana had four steals for Concordia (6-3). Bob Donlan had 18 points to lead Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2-7).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
UC Irvine 72, Chicago State 46--Brandy Hudson and Cindy Oparah had 14 points each and Maree Vincent had 13 points for UC Irvine (5-5). Hudson and Christina Callaway each had 10 rebounds for the Anteaters.
San Diego State 84, Cal State Fullerton 47--Visiting Cal State Fullerton (0-8) shot 27% from the field, making just 13 of 48 shots.
Nikki Lee and Kandace Hunter had 10 points each and Heather Hansen had nine rebounds for the Titans.
