Faithless Electors: Could refer to voters who violate their marital vows, but in election parlance, refers to an electoral college member, pledged to one candidate, who votes for the other guy.
Emotional Roller Coaster: All purpose cliche that needs no definition for any American alive between Nov. 7 and Dec. 13.
Safe Harbor: When the references to de novo, sub silentio, due process, Article This and Section That overwhelmed, some Americans sought this by going to the movies. In legal terms, though, it refers to the shield afforded a state’s slate of electors if certified by Dec. 12.
“The next 72 hours could be critical”: What Americans woke up to each morning as the TV political pundits tried to anticipate what couldn’t be anticipated -- the end to a seemingly endless round of recounts, rulings and reversals.
