Tyler Ebell owns two national records, but his season isn’t complete--the Ventura running back has never won a championship.
Ebell, a three-year starter, was never on a team that defeated Buena, the Channel League champion four years running.
But Ebell, who set national season records with 4,218 yards rushing and 61 touchdowns, is one victory away from winning a bigger championship--the Southern Section Division IV title.
Ventura (12-1) has not won a divisional title since tying Paso Robles, 14-14, in 1951.
“We’ve got an old school and it’s never been done [outright],” Ebell said “I want to win this for Coach [Phil] McCune. He’s been coaching for a long time and he deserves it as much as anyone else who hasn’t won one.”
