McDonald’s to Build Hotels in Switzerland
- Share via
Switzerland’s hotel industry could be in for a shake-up--or maybe just a shake. McDonald’s Switzerland is building two hotels in that country, both scheduled to open April 5. They are the 211-room Golden Arch Hotel Zurich Airport and the 80-room Golden Arch Hotel Lully in Estavayer-le-Lac, between Lausanne and Bern.
According to the company’s Web site, https://www.goldenarchhotel.com, the accommodations won’t be plain vanilla. Swiss-made, top-of-the-line Bico brand mattresses will adjust to various positions. “Extra-soundproofed walls,” fitness facilities, high-speed Internet access (with video “infotainment”) in every room, and a child-care center are also planned. And no “Big Mac Attack” need go unheeded; you know what kind of family restaurant you’ll find on the premises.
Online bookings are offered at reduced prices, starting at about $97 (Zurich) or $85 (Estavayer-le-Lac). That doesn’t include breakfast. . . . Egg McMuffin, anyone?
