SAN CLEMENTE
Capistrano Unified School District plans to spend $10.3 million on renovation projects at San Clemente High School in the next several years. The district will use $8.2 million in state funds and $2.1 million in school bond proceeds.
Most of the money will be spent on purchasing and installing 16 two-story portable classrooms to replace the campus’ 20-year-old portable buildings.
All classrooms will be outfitted with new carpeting, paint, lighting and technology. Other projects include remodeling the school’s Little Theater and enhancing the landscaping.
The projects will begin in the next 18 months, according to district reports.
The district is using bond money to create a parking lot with 70 spaces for students off Avenida Presidio to ease traffic at the school.
