Cooper Cos. Inc.:
The Lake Forest manufacturer of specialty health-care products reported net income rose 34% to $8.7 million, or 59 cents a share, in the fiscal third quarter, from $6.5 million, or 46 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales for the three months ended July 31 rose 17% to $50.9 million. The company noted strong contact lens sales.
The company also said its directors have authorized the purchase of as many as 1 million shares of its common stock.
The stock, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange, rose $3.56 a share to $32.56.
