Donley Ewin; Former Salesman, Bank Employee
Donley Lyle Ewin, a former salesman and bank employee, died Monday in a Ventura hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 88.
He was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Beggs, Okla., and moved to California with his family when he was about 11.
Ewin worked for Security First National Bank, where he met his future wife, Betty Early, who was a co-worker there. They were married for 63 years.
He also worked for Helms Bakery as a salesman for 33 years.
Ewin was a member of the Ventura Breakfast Club and was active in the First United Methodist Church of Ventura.
He was preceded in death by son Dick Ewin and sisters Mildred Amos and Florence Ewin.
In addition to his wife, Betty of Ventura, he is survived by daughter Ann Cormode of Ventura; son Ray Ewin of Ventura; sister Mary Neighbors of Dayton, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Ventura with the Rev. Walter Dilg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1338 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 93001.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
