He might be the galaxy’s next greatest Lego builder, but David Michon, 9, also wants to hit the high spots of New York and grab some sidewalk hot dogs while proving his prowess.

David, whose work was selected from thousands of national entries, has won one of three coveted spots to compete in the 5- to 10-year-old category of the Lego Star Wars Galactic Challenge National Finals in New York City this weekend.

His winning creation, “Intergalactic Communications Array,†which facilitates communication with space stations in other galaxies, was built from more than 6,000 Lego blocks.

The fourth-grader at Santiago Hills Elementary School was introduced to Lego building blocks at 18 months, said his mother, Susan Michon.
