Ceradyne Inc.:
The Costa Mesa maker of advanced technical ceramics reported first-quarter net income of $1.2 million, or 14 cents a share, compared with earnings of $48,000 or 1 cent a share for the first three months last year. Quarterly sales rose 76% to $11.1 million from $6.3 million.
