The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has awarded two local organizations more than $65,000 as part of its Orange County chapter’s 2000 grant program.
The Laguna Beach Community Clinic will use a $57,717 grant to provide patient education, clinical breast exams, biopsies and other services, said clinic spokeswoman Camille Fitzpatrick.
The South Coast Medical Center will use an $8,000 grant to support an interactive breast cancer workshop called “Changing the Face of Breast Cancer--an Expressive Arts Workshop,” in which women use painting, puppetry and writing to explore their experiences with breast cancer.
The Laguna Beach organizations were two of 13 nonprofit groups that received a grant from the Komen foundation this year. The grants come from proceeds raised from the foundation’s annual Race for the Cure running and walking fund-raiser.
