Telemarketing companies have been falsely soliciting money on behalf of the Fountain Valley Police Department for widow and orphan organizations, police officials said.
Police Department and Fountain Valley Police Officers’ Assn. officials said they have not authorized any organization to solicit or accept any type of donations on their behalf.
Citizens are cautioned to ask questions of any telemarketing company requesting donations for law enforcement purposes, said Sgt. Jim Perry, police spokesman.
