Lucinda Carver conducts the opening concert of 1999-2000 of her Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, a program beginning with Beethoven’s “Leonore� Overture No. 1 and ending with his Second Symphony. Noon: Art

The Norton Simon Museum of Art hosts a weeklong Festival of Art beginning Saturday, celebrating the completion of its $6.5-million renovation. Architect Frank Gehry’s renovations include redesigned galleries and the re-installation of the paintings and sculptures that have, together, given the 85,000-square-foot museum a bold new start. In addition to free admission, the festival will include gallery and sculpture-garden tours, musical performances, lectures and family activities.

Noon: Family Theater

An opinionated, funny 10-year-old’s volatile relationships with a teacher, a grandmother, her best friend and two hip parents are chronicled in “Anastasia Krupnik,� adapted by Meryl Friedman from the first in Newberry Award-winner Lois Lowry’s book series. It’s the first in the Falcon Theatre inaugural series of productions for young audiences.
