USC acquired University Village Shopping Center, a 200,000-square-foot retail and office complex next to the university, for $25 million from L.A. University Village Inc., according to an announcement from USC.
The center is on a 14.6-acre site bordered by Jefferson Boulevard, McClintock Avenue, 30th Street and Hoover Street, with parking for 685 cars.
The university said it plans to continue a turnaround at the center, which opened in 1974 and struggled financially earlier this decade before the former owner revived it by signing Starbucks, Foot Locker, Radio Shack and Payless Shoes as tenants.
