RESEDA — A 14-month-old girl was fighting for her life Sunday night after she fell into her family’s backyard pool, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
Paramedics responded to a call in the 19400 block of Vose Street near Calvin Avenue around 4:15 p.m., where the toddler’s mother was on the front lawn trying to resuscitate the child, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The child, who had no pulse and had stopped breathing, was rushed to Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
The hospital refused to comment on the girl’s condition.
Authorities said the mother had thought her daughter was sleeping in her crib but later discovered her in the pool.
“The pool had been in the ground only four months,” Humphrey said. He said the pool had a cover but it wasn’t being used.
