PREP FOOTBALL GAMES AT A GLANCE : Edison (1-0) vs. Cypress (0-0)
7:30 TONIGHT WESTERN HIGH
When they played a year ago, Edison outscored Cypress, 54-23. The lack of a veteran quarterback could hurt Cypress, which is trying to decide between Justin Rice and Chad Halbert. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Cypress has two big receivers, 6-foot-4 twins Clarence and Terrance Moore. Paul Kerr has plenty of leg, capable of scoring from 40 yards. That might be what it takes for Cypress if it can stay close because Edison’s strength is its defense, which flexed its muscle in last week’s 32-6 victory over Honolulu Punahou. The offense wasn’t bad, either, scoring in every quarter.
