SCIENCE FILE : Science in Brief : Recently Launched Satellite Transmits Image of Huge Iceberg
A 24-by-48-mile iceberg about the size of Rhode Island dominates the center of this image captured by the recently launched Landsat7 satellite, which will make high-resolution images from space available for sale to the public. Super-iceberg B10A is drifting off the southern coast of Argentina at a speed of about 7 to 9 miles per day. The white dots immediately below the mother berg are half-mile-wide icebergs that have broken off. For more information on Landsat7 images, visit https://landsat7.usgs.gov.
